Assumption Royals Track and Field dominate Wood County, Pittsville Invitationals

The Assumption Royals Track and Field team competed in the Wood County Invitational on April 28 at Marshfield High School

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Teams from all across Wood County participated including Lincoln High, Marshfield High, Pittsville, Columbus Catholic, Port Edwards and Auburndale. 
Assumption showed that they have tops across many events in the county. Top three finishers medaled.
For the girls, it was once again senior Bella Thomas proving to be the fastest on the track, sweeping the sprints, taking home gold in 100m, 200m and 400m dashes. She also lowered her own school record in the 400m dash. Fellow senior Lucy Dolan took a first in the 1600m run and was also part of the 4x400m relay that brought home gold. Additional relay team members included Baylee Hartjes, Jordyn Jaglinski and Emily Mrozek. 
Second place finishers included Leire Sainz De Rosa in the 1600m run and Baylee Hartjes in the 800m run. 
On the boys’ side, freshman Michael Dolan took home first in the 1600m run. The relay team consisting of Cullen Thomas, Aiden Daliege, Garrett Pavloski and Trey France brought home gold in the 4x400m relay and silver in the 4x200m and 4x100m relays. Off the track, Brennan Morbacher took home second in discus.
Michael Dolan also took a third in the 800m run.
Pittsville Invite
On May 4, the Assumption Royals Track and Field team competed in the Pittsville Invite. Teams from Marathon, Neillsville, Rib Lake, Loyal and Prentice were also in attendance.
On the girls’ side, the team placed fourth overall. Bella Thomas once again dominated the sprints, winning the 100m, 200m and 400m. Lucy Dolan matched the energy on the distance side, winning the 800m and 3200m runs. Leire Sainz De Rosa placed first in the 1600m run. Baylee Hartjes was second in the 400m.
Other notable top 10 finishes:
• 200m: Baylee Hartjes (third) 
• 800m: Leire Sainz De Rosa (fourth), Harper Rosenthal (ninth)
The boys’ team placed third overall. Cullen Thomas took a first in the 200m and second in the 400m. Reed Hartjes placed first in the 800m run. Aaron Jacoby placed second in the 3200m run and 300m hurdles.
Off the track, Brennan Morbacher took second in discus.

• 300m hurdles: Quan Tran (fourth)
• 1600m: Harrison Zacher
• Shot put: Brennan Morbacher (fourth), Odyn France (ninth)
• Discus: Odyn France (third)
• High jump: Aaron Jacoby (fifth)
• Long jump: Quan Tran (eighth)
