WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Advanced Placement (AP) courses provide students with some of the most rigorous academic opportunities available at the high school level. Success in these courses takes hard work, perseverance and a commitment to learning from both students and the teachers who support them. In addition to preparing students for college-level coursework, qualifying AP exam scores may also provide students with college credit or advanced placement opportunities.
This past spring, 184 Lincoln High School students took a total of 247 AP exams, earning an average score of 3.4 on a 5.0 scale, with 78% scoring a 3 or higher. A score of 3 or higher typically earns students college credit at most universities. The exams that scored a 3 or higher have the potential to provide a cost savings of over $175,000 to LHS students and their families. The school issues special congratulations to the 38 students who took the AP PreCalculus Exam, all of these students passed their exam with over 3, for an average of 4.11.
“We are honored to celebrate the continued success of our AP students, with many also earning recognition for their outstanding performance. These results reflect the dedication of our students, the high expectations of our teachers, and the strong academic opportunities available at LHS,” Principal Kelly Zywicki said.
Below are the AP Scholar recognition levels and the number of LHS students who earned each distinction:
AP Scholar Awards
• AP Scholar — Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. Seventeen Lincoln High School students have now earned the rank of “AP Scholar,” with an average score of 3.71, including two sophomores, five juniors and ten seniors.
• AP Scholar with Honor — Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Nine LHS students are now “AP Scholars with Honor,” with an average score of 4.03, including six juniors and three seniors.
• AP Scholar with Distinction — Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Fifteen Red Raiders are “AP Scholars with Distinction,” including six juniors and nine seniors.
In total, 41 students at Lincoln High School who have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement at LHS after the 2025-26 AP Examinations.
While LHS teachers would quickly give all of the credit to their students, student success does not happen without dedicated educators who challenge, encourage and support them along the way. According to Zywicki, Lincoln High’s AP teachers set high expectations while giving students the tools, confidence and support needed to meet them. The time and commitment they invest in their students extends well beyond a single exam and helps prepare students for success after high school.
“We are incredibly proud of our AP Scholars and equally thankful for the teachers who helped lead them to this success,” Zywicki said.
