High-flying action: Winners crowned at Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championship

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships came to a conclusion on July 19, with both teams and individuals putting on show-stopping performances. Competing across multiple divisions and specialty discipline events, water skiers from across the region demonstrated exceptional skill, athleticism and showmanship throughout the tournament.
Division I
Mad-City secured first place with a compiled score of 1,829.38. Rock Aqua Jays came in second place with a total score of 1,692.04, a tight lead over third-place finishers Aquanuts with 1,654.94 points.
Aquanuts competitor Ethan Shulda took home the Most Valuable Male award, while Shermalot’s Sara Fiedorowicz secured Most Valuable Female. Michael O’Connor with Mad City won Outstanding Award #1 for showmanship.
Division II

The top three finishers in Division II battled it out, ending with a tight margin between the teams. Shawano Ski Sharks ultimately took first place with a score of 1,374.88. The Aquaducks took second with a total score of 1,307.85, and the Aqua Skiers came in third with a score of 1,206.28.
Addie DeGraff with Southern Wakes United took home the Most Valuable Female Award. The Shawano Ski Sharks’ Ryan Strachan won the Most Valuable Male Award, while Hawkin Spiegelhoff of the Aqua Ducks secured Outstanding Award #1 for showmanship.
Division III
The top three teams in Division III had another tight battle, with only 41.9 points between the first- and third-place finishers. The Chain Skiers secured their spot in first place with a score of 1,047.3 points. Twin Bridge took home second place with a total score of 1,035.22. The Kwahamots took third place with a score of 1,005.4.
The Kwahamots’ Ryan Koth won the Most Valuable Male Award, while Mallory Gerstenkorn of the Plum Ski-Ters won Most Valuable Female. Jenny Popp of Twin Bridge secured Outstanding Award #1 for showmanship.
Swivel Pairs – Women’s Freestyle
Lexie and Brooke Gunderson took first place with a score of 16.62, while Josie Smerchek and Abby Langer with a score of 16.18. Faith Dix and Sarah Fiedorowicz took third with a score of 14.24.
Freestyle Jump – Men’s Freestyle
Logan Fiedorowicz secured first place with a score of 975.20. Ethan Shulda came close in second with a score of 973. Cale Ducane took third place with a score of 896.
Swivel Open
Allie Krumrai took first place with a score of 18.82. Lexie Gunderson took second with a score of 17.36, and Maggie Kelly took third with a score of 16.56.
Team Jump
The Crivitz Ski Cats took first place with a score of 78.20. Shermalot came in second with a score of 74.05. Mad-City secured third with a score of 72.40.
Freestyle Jump
Sarah Fiedorowicz secured first place by a lead of more than 400 points, finishing with 636 points compared to second place finisher Gabbie Taschwer’s score of 190. Addison DeGraf took third with a score of 181.
Strap Doubles
Cory Krivitz and Kimberly Stoner took first place in a narrow victory, scoring 15.54. Kyle Karbouski and Ashley Wimmer came in second with a score of 14.58, while Ryan Borton and Kelly Kraklow earned third place by a margin of 0.16 points, coming in at 13.98 compared to fourth-place finishers Jonathan Mohr and Ally Sinitz’s score of 13.82.
Next year’s tournament will take place the third full weekend of July at Red Sands Beach, Lake Wazeecha in Wisconsin Rapids.
