CENTRAL WISCONSIN – Governor Evers signed a $341,000 contract to improve WIS 54, at two railroad crossings between 26th Street North and County B, in the villages of Biron and Plover. Work began on Sept. 14.
Chippewa Concrete Services, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will replace the railroad crossing surface and roadway approaches at the WIS 54 railroad crossings in Biron and Plover.
During construction, WIS 54 will be closed at both railroad crossings and detoured via WIS 13, WIS 34, WIS 66 and I-39. WIS 54, between the closures, will remain open. There is a current project on WIS 54 with single lane closures in this area.
Construction is scheduled for completion by Friday, Sept. 25. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
