WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings Junior Hockey faced a challenging weekend at home against the Minnesota Squatch. While the results were not what the team hoped for, the games provided valuable experience and a clearer understanding of what needs to improve as the team prepares for another busy weekend.
The team now turns its attention to the NCDC/USPHL Fort Wayne Showcase. With three games ahead, the focus will be on applying the lessons learned against Minnesota and continuing to develop as a team.
On Friday, Oct. 30, the showcase begins for the Riverkings at the PSM Icehouse in Indiana, where they’ll play the Fort Wayne Spacemen. The next day, the team will be faced with a new challenge against the Red River Spartans. The triple-header will end Nov. 1 with one last game for the Riverkings against the Toledo Cherokee before the team takes five days off and returns home.
Although the weekend was challenging on the ice, it was a positive one for connecting with fans. Following Friday’s home game, Riverkings players took to the ice to skate alongside supporters. The weekly tradition gives fans a chance to share the ice with the players and enjoy a different side of the game.
Saturday offered another opportunity to meet the team, with fans able to join the players for a post-game meal. These gatherings give supporters a chance to talk with players, get autographs and take photos in a more relaxed setting.
Fans interested in meeting the Riverkings in person should keep an eye out for announcements about upcoming Saturday post-game meal locations. Whether it is a chance to chat with a player or get a photo together, these community activities offer another way to be part of the Riverkings season.
As the team prepares for the showcase, the goal is to carry the experience from the Squatch series into the next challenge. For fans, there will be more opportunities to support the Riverkings on the ice and connect with the team beyond the rink.
