Wood County Home and Community Education celebrated County Day

Posted

WOOD COUNTY – Members of Wood County Home and Community Education gathered on May 5 to observe County Day.
This assembly is one of three annual gatherings, which also include the Fall Kickoff and the holiday celebration. Wood County is scheduled to host the West District meeting on October 12, providing an opportunity to engage with representatives from seven neighboring counties.
The recent County Day proceedings were hosted by Club 51, based in Nekoosa.
The event commenced with a reception featuring coffee, tea and an assortment of breakfast pastries, followed by the registration of arts and crafts. Participants exhibited a diverse array of handcrafted items, including quilts, afghans, diamond dot artwork, jewelry and purses.
Artisans whose work received a blue ribbon distinction will advance to the state conference.

The program included a formal business meeting and a charitable raffle of curated gift baskets contributed by members. All proceeds from this raffle are dedicated to supporting initiatives such as the annual scholarship fund and the Wisconsin Bookworms project.
The assembly received a presentation from the proprietors of Jeremiah’s Crossing, a ranch located in Babcock.
Jeremiah’s Crossing offers complimentary therapeutic horseback riding instruction for individuals facing physical, cognitive, emotional and academic challenges. The organization operates through the support of volunteers and private donations to provide these services.
A luncheon featuring a taco bar was supplemented by desserts provided by the membership.
The proceedings concluded with the distribution of raffle prizes and door awards.
