United Way seeks school supply donations for students in need

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties is collecting school supplies for students with financial need through its annual Stuff the Bus campaign.
People can donate new school supplies during the event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 7 at Veterans Park during Lunch by the River. The program serves students in grades 4K through 12 in south Wood County.
Most needed items include backpacks, notebooks in plain colors, folders in plain colors, markers, glue sticks, scissors and colored pencils. Monetary donations are also accepted.
Donations can be dropped off before Aug. 7 at collection sites throughout the area, including Associated Bank, South Wood County YMCA, Paper City Savings Bank and the Wood County Clerk’s Office. A complete list is available at uwswac.org.
Students with financial need can register to receive free school supplies through the Stuff the Desk program. Registration is required by Aug. 1 at uwswac.org or by calling 2-1-1 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registered students can pick up supplies at East Junior High School on Aug. 15 and Aug. 16. Families will receive instructions after registering.
The Stuff the Bus/Stuff the Desk Committee includes several local nonprofit, government and school agencies.
