WOOD COUNTY – The 12th South Wood County Empty Bowls event is set for Saturday, Feb. 14 at FOCUS, 2321 West Grand Ave. according to Mary Schultz, committee chair. This is the fifth year that the FOCUS organization has led the efforts to organize the event in South Wood County. Schultz commented, “2023 was the first time we sponsored Empty Bowls in person. Since that time, we have made improvements to the overall flow of the event. This year, we have 14 local restaurants that will support this event by donating a nice variety of soups for our guests. We have obtained beautiful handmade pottery bowls for guests to choose from as part of their $12 donation for the event. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on February 14.”
Local restaurants participating in the event include Anchor Bay Bar and Grill, BBQ Shack Bar and Grill, Chat-R-Box Catering, Grace’s Family Restaurant, Great Expectations, Hoozles at the Lakes, Jennings and Co., Junkyard Bar and Grill, Olympic II Family Restaurant, Pancakes and Burgers, Panera, Purple Basil, Ryder’s Roadhouse and Grill and Sportsmen’s Pub and Grille. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes basket raffles with products and services donated by local businesses. Watch the FOCUS Facebook page (www.FaceBook.com/FOCUSofSWC) for promotions and soup donor recognitions.
In return for a donation of $12, guests will receive a simple meal of soup, a homemade dinner roll, beverage and a cookie. A handmade bowl, crafted by a local potter or pottery student, will be given as thanks for the support. Proceeds will be used to purchase food to help those in need in the South Wood County area.
