The Kraken win High Point Trophy at Midwest Regional

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Kraken joined forces with the Northern Lakes Aquatics Club to attend the 2026 Midwest Regional Swim Meet. The meet took place on March 28-29 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The event was sponsored by Minnesota Youth Athletic Services.
The NLAC brought home the First Place High Point Team award with 3,049 points. In second place was North Side Swim Team with 2,426 points from Des Moines, Iowa and in third place was Perry Area Winter Swim Team with 1,304 points from Perry, Iowa.
“Congratulations to all the swimmers who gave it their all in the pool and to the coaches who guided the swimmers every step of the way,” said Kraken Head Coach Dave Kontz. “The hard work, dedication and team spirit truly paid off — what an incredible accomplishment!”
Anna Gumz led the Kraken with 79 team points. Anna placed third in the 25-yard Backstroke, 25-yard Freestyle, 50-yard Freestyle (PR and new club record), 25-yard Backstroke, 25-yard Breaststroke (PR and new club record) and fourth place in the 50-yard Breaststroke (PR and new club record). Anna was also part of the 200-yard Freestyle Relay that finished in fifth place.
Willow Lee swam to a 16th place in the 200-yard Backstroke with a PR and a new club record and a PR in the 100-yard Freestyle. Willow was also part of the 400-yard Medley Relay placing fifth. Mya Marquard was busy with nine events over the two-day meet. Mya’s best finish was 21st place in the 50-yard Breaststroke. Mya was part of the 200-yard mixed Freestyle Relay finishing in fifth and the 400-yard Medley Relay placing fourth. Finally, Claira Jenning swam in five events with a top twenty finish in the 50-yard Breaststroke.

AJ Plummer and Tretton Delaney swam in the senior boys events. AJ had top twenty finishes and PR’s in both the 100-yard Butterfly and 100-yard Freestyle. Tretton’s best finish of the day came in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a 10th place setting a new PR and club record. AJ and Tretton swam as part of the 200-yard Freestyle Relay taking third place.
With this meet, WRSC ends a record setting fall/winter season. The Kraken sent six swimmers to state-level competition and set 44 new club records. The swimmers achieved over 200 personal records. The club will start its summer season after school is out for the year.
