WISCONSIN RAPIDS – State Sen. Patrick Testin, R-Stevens Point, visited Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital and Clinics on July 25, touring key facilities and learning about the hospital’s community programs.
Hospital leaders showcased the facility’s obstetrics and emergency services during the visit, including tours of the Birthing Suites and Emergency Department, said Chris Squire, president of Aspirus Wisconsin South & Southwest Divisions.
“We were thrilled to share with Sen. Testin the great work being done by our staff in Wisconsin Rapids,” Squire said. “We were able to especially highlight our incredibly strong obstetrics and emergency services.”
A key stop included the Mid-State Technical College Healthcare Simulation Center on the hospital’s third floor. The partnership provides simulation training for Mid-State students using high-quality manikins in inpatient and outpatient labs.
“The simulation center partnership was a key highlight,” Squire said. “Sen. Testin was able to see both the inpatient and outpatient simulation labs. The labs include high-quality manikins that allow students to practice direct patient care in a safe learning environment.”

Hospital administrators also briefed Testin on Aspirus Health’s Community Benefits program, which includes support for the Families and Schools Together program at area schools, a Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program for eligible patients, and a partnership with Three Bridges Recovery to expand substance abuse treatment access.
Ryan Lown, chief administrative officer at Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital, said the visit provided an opportunity to showcase the hospital’s community impact.
“This was another great opportunity for us to highlight the impact of our programs and services to Sen. Testin,” Lown said. “We thank him for visiting and look forward to continuing the discussion on these important topics.”
