Rock out for a cause: Glam Band hits Wisconsin Rapids Aug. 9

Posted

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Get ready to tease your hair and dust off those leather jackets: the Glam Band is coming to town, and they’re bringing all the decadent ‘80s rock glory you can handle.
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters will host the high-energy cover band on Aug. 9 at Witter Field for a concert that’s all about having fun while doing good. The team has joined forces with Culver’s, Rapids Ford and Furniture & ApplianceMart to donate $8 from every $10 ticket sold to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military members and first responders.
And trust us: This isn’t your typical baseball stadium entertainment. The Glam Band doesn’t just play the hits; they become them. With stage personas like Dennis Lee Roth, Skitch Rockett, Will E Stradlin, Matt Savage, Dee Flatt and JJ Deville, this crew transforms into the ultimate ‘80s rock experience, complete with the wild costumes, towering hair and dramatic makeup that made the decade legendary.
“We’re excited to host the Glam Band at Witter Field,” said Assistant General Manager Jake Adams. “They put on an amazing show, and we’re thrilled to work with them along with local businesses to support Folds of Honor and their mission.”
For 17 years, the Wisconsin-based band has been cranking out crowd-pleasing covers of Bon Jovi, Journey, Motley Crue and other glam metal giants. Their performances are pure theater – think smoke machines, guitar solos that’ll make your ears ring (in the best way), and enough energy to power the entire stadium.

Founded in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded more than 35,000 scholarships totaling over $160 million across all 50 states. The scholarships support K-12 private school tuition or tutoring as well as post-secondary education including two- and four-year colleges, universities and trade schools. Awards are up to $5,000 per recipient based on unmet financial need.
“The mission statement of the Rafters is ‘Where the Community Comes Together,’ and we felt this concert would embody our mission and create a great opportunity to make a difference,” said General Manager Ken Day.
The fun kicks off when gates open at 6 p.m. Special guest Monro takes the stage at 7 p.m., warming up the crowd before the main event. General admission tickets cost $10, with with VIP options for those who want the full rock star treatment.
Tickets are available by contacting info@raftersbaseball.com or calling 715-424-5400.
