More than 22,000 items donated for diaper drive

Posted

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – United Way of South Wood and Adams Counties held a diaper drive between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day that collected 22,061 items for families in need – an increase of 48% over last year.
“According to ALICE data, 27% of Wood County and 36% of Adams County families with children struggle to make ends meet. The diaper drive helps those who need the most support,” said Tari Jahns, CEO of United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties. “We are uniquely positioned to recognize and address the greatest needs in the community, and the addition of this annual event demonstrates the generosity of the communities we serve.”
Diapers, wipes, creams and cash were donated by community members along with a grant from the Aspirus Riverview Foundation. The donations will be given to families in south Wood and Adams counties by United Way partners, including Juneau-Adams WIC, First Choice Pregnancy Resource Center, FOCUS of SWC and Wisconsin Rapids Family Center.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed to the local diaper drive,” said Amy Scheide with the Wisconsin Rapids Family Center. “Your support helps ensure that every child in our shelter is met with care and comfort during a time of great transition. We are honored to be part of such a compassionate community.”
