Help United Way Stuff the Bus

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Community members are encouraged to bring donations of new school supplies to the Stuff the Bus collection event on Thursday, August 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Junior High School (backside on 6th St. S). Monetary donations are also accepted. Donations ensure all South Wood County students with a financial need, 4K through 12th grade, can start the school year with the supplies they need. From pencils to backpacks, every item makes a difference.
Most needed items:
• Backpacks
• Notebooks (plain colors)
• Folders (plain colors)

• Markers
• Pencil boxes
• Scissors
• Colored pencils
• Crayons
• Monetary donations
Donations can also be dropped off before Wednesday, Aug. 5 at any of the following collection sites:
• DNL Recreation Inc.
• First English Lutheran Church
• Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce
• Immanuel Lutheran Church
• McMillan Memorial Library
• Mini Rapids
• Parti Animal Cycle
• South Wood County YMCA
• St. John’s Episcopal Church
• Town of Rome
• United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties
• Valley Communities Credit Union
• Wisconsin Rapids Moravian Church
• Wood County Clerk
All South Wood County students with a financial need are eligible to receive free school supplies from Stuff the Desk; registration is required, must register by Saturday, Aug. 1. Register online at www.uwswac.org, or dial 2-1-1 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to register over the phone. Registered students will receive a reminder mailing with instructions for pick up at East Junior High School during designated pick up times on Friday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 15.
About the Stuff the Bus/Stuff the Desk Committee
Stuff the Bus is a collaborative effort of several local non-profit, government and school agencies. Every year, the Stuff the Bus/Stuff the Desk Committee collects school supplies with help from local businesses. Later, the donated school supplies are distributed to local students in need during the Stuff the Desk event. All South Wood County families who are in financial need are eligible.
