WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Extension Wood County is partnering with the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Financial Institutions to celebrate September College Savings Month. As students begin their school year, it’s a great time for families to think about ways to support their education, both now and for the future. Research shows that even a small amount saved for a child’s future education positively impacts the child’s likelihood to attend education after high school. Small savings for post-secondary education, as little as $1-$499, can help build big dreams.
For those interested in getting started on college savings, the Edvest 529 College Savings Plan was created by the State of Wisconsin specifically to help families save for higher education and is the state’s only direct-sold 529 college savings plan. You can learn more about saving for post-secondary education on Extension’s website at www.finances.extension.wisc.edu or reach out to the Wood County Extension Office directly by calling 715-421-8437.
