WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Fall is in the air, and it’s time to make a difference. United Way of South Wood and Adams Counties is calling on the community to grab their rakes and lend a hand for the annual Day of Caring event on Saturday, Oct. 25. We’re looking for volunteers to help elderly and disabled residents with their fall yard clean-up.
This isn’t just a day of raking; it’s a day of community. Last year, 462 volunteers came together to make a huge impact, and we’re hoping to match that incredible response this year.
Visit our website at www.uwswac.org and click the Day of Caring banner to register. Pre-register to secure your free t-shirt (while supplies last).
All volunteers will be served a free pancake breakfast to fuel up before getting to work. Volunteers under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver, which can be found and downloaded from our website.
On Oct. 25, check-in and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. at the Grand Rapids Lion’s Club (2411 36th St. S., Wisconsin Rapids). Volunteers will receive their assignments and t-shirts then head out to help residents in need.
Please bring your own rakes, gloves, and transportation. Younger volunteers should be supervised by an adult.
United Way extends a huge thank you to this year’s sponsors who make this event possible: Cranberry Valley Girl Scouts, Darlene Rause Memorial, Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal, Kwik Trip, Grand Rapids Lions Club, Nekoosa Lions Club, Port Edwards Lions Club, Ocean Spray, Pepsi, VFW Post 2534, Walmart, Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club, and Wisconsin Rapids Noon Rotary Club.
