Bridge work, street reconstruction to impact traffic

Posted

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Two construction projects will affect local traffic this week and beyond, according to closure notices from city and state transportation officials.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will conduct bridge maintenance on the East Riverview Expressway between 1st Street South and 2nd Avenue South from Aug. 4 at 7 a.m. through Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. Single-lane closures will affect both eastbound and westbound traffic during the 56-hour work period.
A separate city project will close McKinley Street between 13th Avenue North and 14th Avenue North to through traffic starting Aug. 5 at 7 a.m. The closure is part of a larger street reconstruction project covering McKinley Street from 8th Avenue North to 14th Avenue North, with work expected to continue through the end of October.
Motorists should plan alternate routes during these construction periods. Questions about either project can be directed to Joe Eichsteadt at engineering@wirapids.org.
