November 19
Man scammed after payday loan
At 1:29 p.m., a 62-year-old town of Marshfield man called to report a theft of money. He had applied for a payday loan and was given a check written out to him. He later saw three cancelled checks with his name that he did not write. A deputy arrived and spoke with the man about better habits to prevent scams.
A stubborn cow
At 4:15 p.m., a caller reported possible neglect of a cow in the township of Marshfield. Deputies walked the property and eventually found the cow in question. The owner was contacted and assured the deputy the cow had proper food and water, but stated that the cow refuses to go in the barn at night.
Illegal hunters reported
At 3:08 p.m., a town of Wood land owner called to report that he witnessed a man hunting near his land. The man shot a deer on his land and dragged it off of his property without permission. The landowner and family have had several issues with the man trespassing. The man was found and was cited.
November 22
Fake money leads to arrest
At 4:55 p.m., an employee of a Saratoga gas station phoned police after a couple tried to pay for their purchases with a fake bill. Deputies were able to locate the suspects and the man was ultimately arrested as he is on probation.
Lost hunter is found
At 5:12 p.m., a man called to report that he was hearing a man yelling for help in a town of Seneca wooded area. Vesper emergency services responded and searched for the man. They were able to find the man and bring him out of the woods.
November 23
Stolen change
At 12:36 p.m., an Arpin woman reported that while she was in the hospital in September, someone had taken between $700-900 worth of coins from her residence. She had a few suspects in mind. Deputies are talking with the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
