United We Can gathers nearly 8.5K pounds of food

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The seventh annual United We Can event, held June 13, raised $1,250 in monetary donations, along with 8,485 pounds of food.
Among the teams competing, the United Way of South Wood and Adams Counties, along with the South Wood County Hunger Coalition, awarded the following prizes: Most Nutritious Award – ERCO Worldwide, Most Creative Award – Paper City Savings, Community Choice, Major League – Aspirus, and Community Choice, Minor League – Boy Scouts
United We Can was able to support five local food programs: Christian Life Fellowship Food Pantry, Backpack for Kids, Rapids Family Backpacks, South Wood Emerging Pantry Shelf, The Family Center, and The Neighborhood Table.
“We all win when united we change and strengthen lives by investing in our community.” said Jodi Friday, community impact director for United Way of South Wood and Adams Counties. “Thanks to the generosity of our teams and community members, United We Can 2019 leveraged more food and raised more money than ever before! It’s truly an inspiration to see our community work together to help “Strike Out Hunger.”’
Teams participating included: Aspirus, Domtar, ERCO Worldwide, Paper City Savings, River Cities Bank, Daly Drug, Solarus, Boy Scouts, Coldwell Banker/Siewert Realty, ODC, LHS Key Club, and McMillan Memorial Library.
