GRAND RAPIDS — The Town of Grand Rapids has been voted the 7th safest city in Wisconsin, and the 82nd safest city in America, according the most recent SafeWise Report.
The SafeWise Report released its “100 Safest Cities in America” report on April 16. To compile this report, SafeWise used the most recent complete FBI crime data from 2016 to analyze and rank these cities. According to SafeWise security analyst Alexia Chianis:
“While no community is immune to crime, the 100 Safest Cities in America experienced exceptionally low crime rates. On average, these cities reported a mere eight property crimes for every 1,000 people—that’s 67 percent less than the national property crime rate. Violent crimes were even less common, with over half the cities on our list citing zero crimes of this type. We congratulate the leaders, law enforcement officers, and citizens of every community on our list.”
Grand Rapids Chief of Police Melvin Pederson commented on the recent top-10 listing of Grand Rapids.
“It’s a great honor to be make the list of safest cities in America,” said Pederson. “We look forward to serving the residents of the Town of Grand Rapids and all visitors to our town in a courteous and professional manner.”
