City Times Staff
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Democrat Ted Ashbeck announced his candidacy for Wood County Sheriff last week.
Ashbeck, a former Crime Scene Technician, release the following statement to media outlets:
Dear Wood County Residents,
I am announcing my candidacy for the office of Wood County Sheriff.
I began my law enforcement career in Wood County as a Reserve Deputy. I continued with the City of Shawano, working in patrol, as a Field Training Officer, a Sensitive Crime Investigator and Crime Scene Technician before returning to Wood County in 2006, working on the road as a Patrol Deputy, on the SRT Team, an accident reconstructionist and trained as a computer crimes investigator; then moving into the jail as a Sergeant, later being promoted to my current position as Jail Administrator.
In addition to my Law Enforcement experience, I have worked in the private sector where I excelled by developing business plans, budgets and managing facilities of multi-million-dollar corporations. Both in Shawano and in Wood County, I drew on my management experience to find ways to use existing budget and resources for the greatest good.
My family roots are in Auburndale, and we moved our family back to Wisconsin Rapids when my son was in kindergarten. He will graduate this spring, and my daughter will in 2020. I am committed to this community and making it a safe and prosperous place to raise a family.
I have dedicated myself to providing the highest level of service throughout my career, and as Sheriff, will work in partnership with the community to ensure the highest quality of life and safety for its citizens.
As your Sheriff I will continue working on strengthening community partnerships, increasing officer training to better respond to calls, and focus on community policing in a fiscally responsible way. I will work with the entire Wood County community and our Elected Officials in Madison and Washington DC to address issues at all levels.
With my 20 years of law enforcement experience, and the many roles I had in both the private and public sector, I am uniquely qualified to continue serving you as your Sheriff and am committed to earning your vote.
